Rainy Bank Holiday
With possible rain forecast for the upcoming bank holiday, it’s good to know that the Looe Museum (Old Guildhall Museum & Gaol) is open!
An educational and fun visit for adults and children, the museum is one of the oldest buildings in Looe (built in the 15th century) has the original magistrate’s bench on the upper floor which dates back to 1705.
You could be locked up in one of the cells below to experience what conditions would have been like for the criminals of Looe. You can also be the Judge and decide whether a prisoner is guilty or innocent. There are many other interesting artifacts such as old documents about Looe, the history of Looe in the war and stories of Looe as a fishing port.
The Museum is run by a dedicated team of volunteers and is open Monday to Friday, 11am to 4pm (last admissions 3.40pm)
Closed Saturdays and Sundays.
