Polperro Road Update: Progress and Traffic Changes
We have been in contact with Cornwall Highways who have provided an update on Polperro Road ahead of Looe’s festive season.
An overview of the information provided is illustrated below:
What’s Happening Next?
- Traffic Management Changes:
- The road closure will end on Friday, 29 November.
- Traffic lights will be installed to keep traffic flowing while Cornwall Highways finish the work.
- These lights will remain in place until mid-January, including during the Christmas shutdown. The project extension is required as traffic will impact working conditions.
What’s Been Done So Far
- Anchors Installed: Most anchors in the soil slip area and beneath the property are drilled, grouted, and being strength-tested this week.
- Mesh Work Complete: Erosion control and stabilisation mesh installation is finished.
- Reinforcing the Wall: Flexible mesh is being added to secure a loose section of the buttress wall.
- Vertical Piles Installed: These were completed last week. Cornwall Highways are now preparing the ground for the next step—pile cap construction.
We hope this amendment will improve access for everyone during the Lantern Parade, Christmas light switch-on, and other festive events in Looe. To access the official statement provided by Cornwall Highways click here: Polperro Road West Looe – Stakeholders Update – 26 Nov 24
