Mayor and Deputy Mayor re-elected to serve for a second year
At the annual Mayor Making Ceremony held at the Guildhall, East Looe on Monday 20th May, Councillor Tony Smith was re-elected to serve as Mayor for a second year. Cllr Stephen Remington was re-elected as Deputy Mayor.
In his acceptance speech the Mayor reflected on the last Council year and paid tribute to Cllr Edwina Hannaford commenting that she was, ‘a devoted servant of the town whose skills, knowledge and energy are greatly missed by fellow Councillors’.
The Mayor also thanked the organisations, groups, charities and individuals who contribute their time and energy and without whom our town would not be such a great place to live.
The Mayor announced that he had selected Tracey Pickard as the ‘Citizen of the Year’ for her work to ensure the New Year’s Eve Fireworks continues. The Mayor’s Organisation of the Year was Three Seas for their progress on creating affordable homes for local people at the Coastguard Cottages.
