Keeping Looe Safe: Town Security Returns for Summer 2025

Looe Business Forum and Looe Town Council are pleased to welcome back Poseidon Town Security from Saturday 26th July to Tuesday 2nd September.  Please look out for them patrolling around town.

Our aim – supporting the safety of local businesses, residents and visitors through visible deterrent, helpful advice and preventative conversation.

Businesses throughout the town have been supplied with a network of radios to provide effective communications and an early warning mechanism to reduce shoplifting and report anti-social behaviour to Town Security.

Many of our local business owners felt that the trial of 2024 was an all-round success. Town Security reports to the local policing team secured 20 extra hours of PCSO presence in the town last August.  Looe Town Council agreed to match-fund donations received from local business owners, to provide the finance for this important service again this year.

Jamie Pearn, Chair of Looe Business Forum said: “I am grateful for the support businesses, individuals, and Looe Town Council have shown for this initiative. It is reassuring to know that some of the pressure caused by shoplifting and anti-social behaviour will be eased during the summer – our busiest time of year. This would not have been possible without the business community coming together to make it happen.”

Looe Business Forum and Looe Town Council would like to take this opportunity to wish all our local businesses a safe and prosperous summer season.  Let’s hope the sun shines!

Mayor Stephen Remington Explores Seagrass in Looe with Marine Conservation Group!

On Saturday, 5 July, Mayor Stephen Remington joined the exploration for Seagrass in Looe Bay, organised by the Looe Marine Conservation Group and led by Eden Stevens, a seagrass specialist from the Ocean Conservation Trust.

We spoke with Stephen who said: “Although the weather was a little damp and underwater visibility poor, this was a fascinating trip and the discussion at the Heritage Centre afterwards was useful. Seagoers who drop anchors have a lot to learn about the impact on these precious plants and all of us who love the oceans can cooperate to protect them. Many thanks to LMCG and to Eden.”

Re-introducing Visit Looe!

We’re excited to share a fresh chapter for Visit Looe!

If you didn’t know, Looe Town Council is responsible for the Tourist Information Centre on the Millpool, along with the Visit Looe website and social media channels. There has been a lot of time & effort put in to Visit Looe including strengthening our partnership with (Welcome to Looe & Polperro) and a focus on social media channels.  Earlier this Summer, we launched our new Visit Looe website, so now is the ideal time to reintroduce Visit Looe to our community.

So, What’s New at Visit Looe?

After reviewing the performance of our previous website, we made the decision that we needed to invest in a new website to improve the experience for locals and visitors alike.  Thanks to the dedication of the Visit Looe Working Group, supported by our Content & Communications Officer, we’re proud to say this new site is not only with big improvement creatively, as it is easier to navigate and more visually engaging, but it is also far more cost effective. By reducing ongoing maintenance costs and investing in upskilling our team, we’ve created a site that better reflects the charm and energy of Looe.

Meet the Company Behind the Change:

Of course, none of this would be possible without our recruited design team. We worked with Bang Bang Creative, a Cornwall-based agency who’ve been an incredible asset to this project. Their fresh approach, visual flair, and expert knowledge has elevated Visit Looe to a new standard.

We bring great visuals and smart web design together under one roof. Whether it’s a beautiful new website, standout branding or high-impact photography and video, everything we create is designed to make an impression. Founder Simon’s background in surf photography and video plays a big part in the way we work, capturing movement, mood and story with clarity and creativity. It’s this eye for detail and creative edge that sets the tone across all the projects we take” – Bang Bang Creative.

What Does This Mean for Local Businesses?

The new website opens exciting opportunities for local businesses to shine! If you’re a business in or around Looe and fall into one of the categories below, we’d love to feature you on our website. *

  • Local attractions & experiences.
  • Activity providers (e.g. boat trips, diving, guided tours).
  • Events (music, sports, food, grand openings etc).

We are also seeking social media content opportunities, offering collaborative posts that may showcase your business to a wider audience. A previous example is the reel we created for Dive Looe (check it out on our socials @Visit Looe)! This a not-for-profit project, focused solely on showcasing Looe, in turn all additions to the website & our social media are completely free of charge.

We’re thrilled that Visit Looe has a great new shop window after a much needed refresh! As we move forward, our goal is to continually expand, improve, and grow Visit Looe within the town and beyond. We truly appreciate your ongoing support and can’t wait to share what’s ahead with you.

Want to Get Involved?

If you would like to feature, please send your latest business details, photos, and contact information so it can be included/ updated on our new website.
