Annual Town Meeting and Annual Parish Assembly

An important date in the civic year at Looe Town Council is the Annual Town Meeting and Annual Parish Assembly.

The Annual Town Meeting is when Town Councillors vote for the Mayor and Deputy Mayor for the year ahead. It’s also when membership of the Committees are decided along with their Chairs and Vice Chairs. The Mayor’s Mace Bearers, Cadet and Consort are also introduced at the meeting and we honour members of the community who have given above and beyond.

The Annual Parish Assembly is a community-focused meeting that is open and informal. It gives the community the chance to ask questions of Councillors, raise issues and hear about plans for the coming year. Councillors won’t make binding decisions at this meeting but any information and feedback will be taken forward for discussion at a later date.

The two meetings are usually held on the same evening and this year, they will be on Tuesday 19th May 2026 at the Millpool Centre. Everyone is welcome and we would really encourage members of the community to come along, meet your Councillors and hear about the work of the Town Council.

The provisional and approximate timetable for the evening will be:

6pm: Annual Parish Assembly

6.30pm: Refreshments

7pm: Annual Town Meeting

8pm: Close of meeting
