Certificate of Appreciation for the Residents of Looe!
Residents of Looe have been presented with a certificate of appreciation following a trip to Ukraine taken by local volunteers including members of the Lions Club of Looe. The group delivered an ambulance to Dobroslav and two other vehicles to Odesa, Ukraine. All three vehicles were full of medical aid and clothing supplies. This was graciously received by those in need, many of whom have been made homeless by the war.
Andy French, a member of the Lions Club in Looe attended the 10-day, 2,200-mile trip:
Andy has said: ‘The volunteers heard heartbreaking stories and saw sights that showed the plight of many in Ukraine. They are proud people but so very grateful for the aid; to know that people far away are thinking of them, and they are not forgotten. Of course, none of this would have been possible without the support of local business in Looe and surrounding areas as well as the support and sponsorship of the ambulance and donations of money, clothes and supplies.
If you would like to learn more about the trip Andy has been recently interviewed by the Cornish Times, an article that can be found via: Looe volunteers and Lions Club take ambulance and aid to Ukraine | cornish-times.co.uk
