We currently have vacancies on Looe Town Council which we can fill by co-opting new Councillors. This means that you apply by completing an Expression of Interest (form below) and will attend a Council meeting to be considered for co-option by other members. You will not need to campaign, canvass or go through an election process, and you don’t need to be involved with any political party – most of our Town Councillors are independent.
Information that you may find useful is also attached below and please call us or drop into the office if you’d like to talk further before applying. You may also want to attend meetings of the Council or its Committees to see how we work together and how decisions are made – all of our meetings are open to the public so please let us know if you’d like to come along.
To be a Town Councillor you must be a British, commonwealth or EU citizen; at least 18 years old; and meet at least one of the following qualification categories:-
(a) be registered as a local government elector in the parish, OR
(b) have occupied, as owner or tenant, any land or premises in the parish during the whole of the preceding twelve months, OR
