Seafront Toilets’ Refurbishment

If you’ve visited the seafront recently, you may have noticed our team busily working on refurbishments and redecoration of the public conveniences there. The old toilets have been removed and lots of work done to prepare surfaces for decorating which has now begun both inside and outside the building.

We’re working hard to have the site open again for Easter with updated facilities that we hope will provide a more pleasant environment for users as well as saving water and being easier for our Cleaners to maintain.

Further to previous posts, charging will be introduced at the seafront when the toilets re-open and there will be an entry fee of 20p per user. The income we receive will contribute to our ongoing spending on the toilets (e.g. cleaning, maintenance, supply of power, paper, soap, etc.), as well as helping us to fund refurbishment of other public conveniences around the town. Payment to enter will be by card/contactless only so that we don’t have cash on the premises and residents who use the facilities regularly can purchase a payment card from the library which allows a fixed number of entries per month.
