Network Rail – work on Looe Valley Line

Network Rail will soon be working Looe branch line to carry out vegetation maintenance, helping to maintain a safe and reliable railway. The work will be done overnight so that teams can work safely, but please be aware these dates may change. Please see below for table of shift times.

DATE SHIFT TIMES
Saturday 25 – Thursday 30 November Five consecutive overnight shifts: 10:30pm – 6:00am
Saturday 2 – Thursday 7 December Five consecutive overnight shifts: 10:30pm – 6:00am

The safety of the public, travelling passengers and staff is Network Rail’s number one priority. Uncontrolled vegetation can pose a serious risk to the safe running of the railway. During Storm Eunice, more than 140 reports were received of fallen trees, branches, trampolines or other items on the track. Thankfully, no passengers were injured or train drivers harmed. However, the impact of a fallen tree could have been much worse. Incidents like this can lead to long delays for passengers which affects the whole of the UK network.

The nature of the work often means some noise is unavoidable but Network Rail will try to minimise this as much as possible and apologise in advance if there is any disturbance to local residents.
