Little West Wood Landslip Polperro Road – update
Following recent issues of congestion within the Mill Pool car park and surrounding roads over the weekend. Cornwall Council highways are putting in place the following measures to alleviate congestion when exiting the carpark:
- The grace period for motorist from paying to exiting the car park barriers will be increased – They hope to have this in place soon but may take up to a week as this is controlled by an external contractor.
- A number of Correx signs will be place around the car park advising that due to the temporary traffic lights leaving the car park may take longer than normal, and to urge people to plan their onward journey accordingly.
- To review the VAS signage further up Polperro Road to warn drivers of the car park capacity.
In regard to the traffic management on the highway:
- As of 4/4/2024, the lights will be manually controlled during busy periods for the remainder of the holiday. They have also actioned Cormac to speak with their traffic management suppliers to discuss the redesign of a marshalled 3-way lighting system at weekends.
- Cormac will install two sets of yellow hatched boxes around the junction areas, at the top on the entrance to Mill Pool and the bottom by the bridge and Quay Road. This should aid exiting those junctions when not being marshalled.
- “Access to Businesses Only” signs will be positioned on the small link through to Mill Pool past the arcade.
- Priority working will be installed on Quay Road to ensure that the narrow section is not blocked for the buses using that route.
