Hannafore Sea Wall Walkway

Cornwall’s Highways team have reported that a large void has been found under the concrete surface of the walkway at the back of Hannafore Beach Seawall. Because of public safety concerns, the walkway has been closed.

Highways are investigating the extent of the void(s) – current estimate approximately 2m x 2m x 1.5m.It appears that the backfill material behind the seawall has been washed out by sea/wave action through drainage holes retro-fitted in the wall.

Cornwall have asked us to pass on apologies for any inconvenience this may cause and we all appreciate the impact coming into the holiday season. However, the risk has been deemed severe enough to warrant the immediate closure.
