Further Train Strikes

You may seen the news that the ASLEF (train drivers) union have announced further strikes at the start of December, as part of a rolling programme of strikes across operators. This is separate from the negotiations with the RMT union (on board and station staff) where members are currently voting on a proposed pay deal.

ASLEF members will be on strike at GWR on Thursday 7 December. On this day many parts of the network will have no service whatsoever, and where GWR are able to run, services will start late and finish much earlier than usual. Any customers that do travel should check before doing so at www.gwr.com/check. There may also be alterations to their services on the evening of Wednesday 6 December and the morning of Saturday 8 December.

The GWR team are working on getting journey planners updated as soon as possible, and they will also be making customers aware though traditional and social media, station and on board announcements, and station posters. Anybody who has already bought a ticket for travel on 7 December will be able to claim a full refund. For full information please visit www.gwr.com/strike.

ASLEF have also announced action short of a strike effective from Friday 1 to Saturday 9 December. While they will plan to run as full a service as possible (7 December excepted), there may be short notice alterations and cancellations because this industrial action will mean they only have a very limited number of spare drivers.
