Disruption to GWR Trains Monday 29th January – Tuesday 6th February 2024
The ASLEF (train drivers) union have announced new industrial action later this month/at the start of February, as part of a rolling programme of strikes across operators.
ASLEF members will be on strike at GWR (as well CrossCountry and Chiltern Railways) on Monday 5 February. On this day many parts of the network will have no service whatsoever, and where they are able to run, services will start late and finish much earlier than usual. Any customers that do travel should check before doing so at www.gwr.com/check. There may also be alterations to their services on the evening of Sunday 4 February and the morning of Tuesday 6 February.
The team are working on getting journey planners updated as soon as possible, and they will also be making customers aware though traditional and social media, station and on-board announcements, and station posters. Anybody who has already bought a ticket for travel on Monday 5 February will be able to claim a full refund. For full information please visit www.gwr.com/strike.
ASLEF have also announced action short of a strike effective from Monday 29 January to Tuesday 6 February. While they will plan to run as full a service as possible (Monday 5 February excepted), there may be short notice alterations and cancellations because this industrial action will mean they only have a very limited number of spare drivers.
