Mayor's Duties:
During the term of office the Mayor, presides at meetings of the Town Council and supports local organisations and businesses by launching, attending and hosting functions on behalf of the Town Council.
The Mayor also undertakes all Civic Ceremonial duties on behalf of the Town, including attendance at Civic Services, Remembrance Day, Festival of the Sea, Lugger Race, etc.
The Mayor will not appear to favour one sector of the community to the detriment of another . An obvious example of this is that the Mayor will avoid taking part in a controversial issue which is likely to be debated at a Town council meeting which the Mayor be call upon to chair.
If you would like to invite the Mayor to your event, we would like to make it as easy as possible for you to do so.
All invitations should be sent at the earliest opportunity as the Mayor’s diary fills up quickly. You should send all invitations in writing , giving as much notice as possible, with details about what you would like the Mayor to do and if you would like the chain of Office to be worn, directly to:-
Mrs Anne Frith
Clerk to Looe Town Council
Tel: 01503 262255
e -mail: looetowncouncil@btconnect.com
Fax: 01503 262255
The Town Clerk will confirm if the Mayor is able to attend. If the Mayor cannot attend then the Deputy Mayor will be asked. Once you engagement has been accepted you will receive written confirmation from the Clerk to the Council.

Press Release
Looe Town Council are very pleased to acknowledge that all councillors involved in the recent code of conduct investigation have been completely cleared of any breach.
The full summary of the investigation can be seen on the website: www.standardsforengland.gov.uk or here.
We are, however, extremely alarmed at the cost of this investigation which is approximately £47,000!! This information was provided to us by the standards for England as requested under the Freedon of Information Act 2000. That figure does not include the cost of the administration involved by Looe Town Council for providing all the required and requested information to the Standards Board, which amounts to approximately £10,000, making the total cost £57k all of which have to be paid out of tax revenue from the public purse.
